Our ordinance took affect today!!

August 29th
Per the Hillsdale Register of Deeds website, the most up to date number that I am able to find is appx 820 acres in Litchfield Township. The majority of it you can see here, but there is at least one other one west of M-49. I had to do some digging and look up the individual parcel numbers, but this is what I found.

There is now more land leased to Ranger Power. I will work on getting an updated map available soon. Most of the land that has been leased is in the same area of the township as the current land.

July 14th
There are more properties that have been leased. I found documentation of it and am working on getting a total acreage that has been leased and updating the map this weekend.

July 6th
I have updated the map to reflect the properties that there is public documentation of being leased. I need to be able to dig deeper into the paperwork online to be able to confirm the other properties I was told were leased.

The pink property is owned by Ceres Farms LLC out of South Bend, IN and is currently leased under BW Solar Holdings Inc. However, Capital Power has bought several of their leases and that is who owns it now. That was confirmed by the Capital Power Project Manager that I spoke with. They also sent a preliminary array to show what the project would look like.  (Document Preview (publicsearch.us)

The green property is leased by Ranger Power. There is an easement agreement with the property owner for all three plots. (Document Preview (publicsearch.us))

The planning committee has had two separate meetings regarding amending the current ordinance. They have been receptive to public input and are hoping to have a solid ordinance to present within the next few months.

There have been other companies coming into the area in an attempt to secure leases as well. Both DTE and Consumers have approached homeowners to try and secure leases. I do not know of any who signed, but I will provide an update once I am able to get confirmation.

*UPDATE* As of June 3rd, 2023 there have been 302 confirmed acres leased to Capital Power. The project manager reached out to me directly. Per our conversation, he took over the lease from another company but has no plans to pass it to anyone else nor lease any additional property. We will see...

Consumers Energy is also going to people, trying to secure leases. One resident that they came to was told they are trying to secure 800 acres. I do not know the exact amount
they currently have secured.

As of May 6th, is the current map of the properties said to be going solar. There are three plots of land not highlighted on the map, but the total acres to date leased to solar is appx 968! Mixed in with these yellow expanses are residential homes, many of which will have solar panels on multiple sides of them. Families with small children who now will be exposed to electromagnetic radiation. Retired individuals just wanting to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside who will now be bombarded by construction and buzzing of solar terminals. Farmers who will soon have to deal with large construction equipment on the back roads they need to travel to get between farm plots.

This is just in the southeast corner of the township. There are hundreds more going up in the surrounding townships as well.

This map will be updated as new information is made available. (updated 5/6/23)
